The firm was founded in 1923 at premises in New Street, Erdington, by Mr. Frank Ernest Wilson, grandfather of current Directors Geoffrey Wilson and Derek Wilson, and by Mr. Herbert William Symons.
These two men, who were pioneers in the plastic industry as it is known today, started out assembling radio loudspeakers. During the early years they were asked if they could produce labels for the finished items and so began producing celluloid labels and dials for radios.
In the years that followed, gradual expansion took place, until four years later in 1927 the firm moved to Newhall Street, Sutton Coldfield. There it started specialising in small plastic components for office equipment manufacturers.
In 1946, Mr. B. E. Wilson (son of Mr. Wilson Snr) joined the company, coinciding with the use of new and better materials in the plastics industry. In 1951, Mr. Wilson Snr died. After his death the firm continued under the management of Mr. B. E. Wilson. Work now included cutting, bending, punching and gold blocking small plastic components. New machinery was also bought in, such as high frequency PVC welding machines to be used in the manufacture of transparent envelopes, wallets, book covers and motor accessories.
Throughout the 1960's the market for their produce increased steadily, due mainly once again to new processes and materials and the increasing role that plastics were playing in modern industry.
The product range the company now offer, is the result of many years of steady growth and experience.
In 1991 the company relocated to the Riland Industrial centre in Sutton Coldfield. The modern, well laid out premises, together with a large investment in automated machinery have greatly enhanced the productivity of the company.
Today, the firm prospers, with an excellent customer base, offering purpose made components to many different trades.
